Dr. Joseph A Giliberto D C

Handicap 10 / USA

I have been working with Averne Myles for almost a month now and have gotten excellent results in my golf swing and in my game. I am writing this testimonial because of how much I feel I have improved in such a short time. Before, I go on, allow me to tell you a little about myself, so you know where I am at in relationship to golfing experience.

I am a practicing Chiropractor, here in Lippo Karawaci, Indonesia. I am sixty-two years old, in excellent health and have maintained an eight handicap for the fifteen years prior to moving to Indonesia two and a half years ago. I did not play golf for the first year that I was here and sporadically for the next year. In the past six months, I have taken the game back up again and now practice twice a week at the driving range and play once a week. My eight handicap was when I was practicing three times a week and playing at least twice. I now have a 9.3 index and play to a 10 handicap in most places. I have never been a very long hitter but have a very good short game, usually averaging 30 putts or less a round.

Most people would be very happy to play the game at the level I am at, and most people in my position do not use the services of a golfing professional. That is because most people go backward in their game when they start working with the pro and have to learn to overcome their problems. I am here to tell you that that is not the case with Averne. You will get results quickly if you practice and do what he tells you. He will take your swing with whatever faults you have and make small, simple adjustments that will improve your game.

Now, part of the reason for telling you about me was because I am now about to tell you that my game has improved very significantly. I am hitting all irons at least twenty yards further, except for the wedge. That is because, as you know, with the short irons, you are usually not taking a full swing and are more concerned with accuracy than exact distance. Remember, that I am an eight handicap golfer, very familiar with the swing, and I practice a lot. If you do not have that much proficiency in your game, nor practice as much, do not expect to see as much results so quickly! Trust what he tells you, practice it, and, as they say "just let it happen".

There are two reasons for using a golf professional, in my opinion.

First, you have someone else more knowledgeable about the game than you are who has been trained to find your swing faults. I can probably help you if I played with you, if you are a high handicapper too, but the difference is, while I can see the faults, I am not sure how best to fix them. I have played golf with Averne on the course and actually knew what some of my problems were, but had no idea how to fix them. He did and it has made a very pleasant significant difference in how I am hitting the ball.

By the way, for your personal knowledge, he can walk the walk as well as talk the talk. He was one over par playing the game that day, and he was spending most of the time helping me with my swing thoughts. If he had concentrated on his game, he would easily have played scratch golf or sub par. So, I can testify not only to his enormous knowledge of the game, but his ability to play it as well.

The second reason for using a golf professional is one most people do not think of. Ten years ago, I went to see the David Leadbetter people back home in the United States and took a few lessons from one of their instructors. At the time, I had a loop in my swing that was just horrible, but still played to an eight handicap. The short game cures a lot of ills! But it was always a constant struggle to make the good scores that kept my handicap low. The Leadbetter people told me it would take about two years to completely eliminate that loop in my swing. It did. But why did I have that loop in the first place?

The answer lies in the fact that when I was first starting, I practiced a lot but I did not use a golf professional to help me learn the game properly in the first place. I developed bad habits that I now had to reverse. So, seeing
a golf professional, at whatever level you are at, will ensure for you that you do not have to put in those two miserable years, re-learning the golf swing.

There are golf professionals who only care about the money they make. They give you the time you have coming to you, but really do not care if you get better or not. Averne is a teacher primarily, who loves to help people and it was very clear to me that he cares a great deal about how well you improve. Add that personal characteristic to the fact that he makes the changes in your swing as simple as he can, and if you practice you will see improvements.

Anyone reading this testimonial is free to ask Averne for my telephone number and I will be happy to meet you at the driving range in Karawaci. I would be happy to show you what I was doing wrong, how he changed that, and you can see the improvements for yourself. I say that because anyone can write a testimonial. You will want to be assured that this is an honest statement about his teaching, his playing, and see that what I have told you about myself is the truth as well.
